My mom and I began breeding these wonderful little dogs quite by accident. My daughter so badly wanted a Yorkie that after researching and finding a top quality breeder to purchase from, I arranged for Santa to bring her one on his annual Christmas Eve visit to our home. She was so incredibly excited to see Santa bring a little kennel out of his big bag she didn’t know what to think when he opened the door, except it must be a joke with a toy puppy in there. Then the puppy moved! As she couldn’t help but explore new territory, out came this tiny little puppy and Katie burst into tears and laughter at the same time and sat for about 30 minutes rocking her puppy and crying. This was one of the best moments I have ever recorded on video. We had never had Yorkie’s before, and this tiny little dog just captured our hearts in a big way instantly. She is named Katie's Shadow, and is everything you could want--fearless, intelligent, loving, curious, playful and a perfect pet for my daughter.
We made the decision to breed her and see how she handled that and just like everything else she does, the results were wonderful.
We have been breeding ever since. We purchased an incredible little male for our stud and have been very happy with all of his puppies. His name is Cash, mainly because my teenage son refused to go outside to call for Lover Boy, which was my first choice. He has strong champion lines, and is a beautiful little dog with an endearing and hilarious personality. His conformation is show quality. In fact, we had to beg to purchase him as his owner was ready to put him into the show circuit and did not want to give him up. He was born and raised by the same wonderful breeder that we acquired our Shadow from. She has several excellent breeding lines. He is small at just 4 pounds, but very mighty, and the puppies created are absolutely lovely. He definately does enjoy his harem!!
Never hesitate to purchase a little male Yorkie, they are absolutely just as wonderful as a female, as we found out when we purchased Cash. At the time we were not sure we would care for having a male in the house, but he has far surpassed our expectations and is in our hearts in a big way. His personality can not be beat. They are every bit as sweet, loving, playful as the females and just as wonderful as companions for young and old alike.
Check out my nursery for available puppies! The puppies are born and raised in our house with the family.
I want each puppy that we sell to go to a loving, caring home. They are all very well loved before they are sent off to their new homes.
Yorkies are people dogs; they want to be with you, and not shut into a garage or laundry room. You won't believe how much love one little dog can give you.
The official breed standard for the Yorkshire terrier calls for adult Yorkies to have a weight of no more than seven pounds. On average, Yorkshire terriers weigh between 5 and 7 pounds as adults. There are, of course, smaller Yorkies that will weigh 3 pounds or less. Most Yorkshire terriers that you see participating in the show ring tend to be 6 to 7 pounds. There occasionally can be health risks associated with the smallest Yorkies. As a rule though, the Yorkie is a very healthy dog.
Yorkies are all born black and go through many changes from birth to adulthood. The younger they are when their color starts turning on their head and body, the lighter their body color will be when mature. I can tell you more about a 12-week-old puppy than I could when it was 8 weeks of age and I can know more about the projected adult size, and color, when a puppy is 4 months old than I could have at 6 weeks of age. You can not be sure of what the puppy is going to look like when it is grown, just because you've been able to see the parents, some may be darker in color, and others from the same litter may have more silver from further back in their lines.
Our priority is breeding quality dogs. There are Champions in their pedigrees. Our Yorkshire Terriers are all AKC registered. Shots and worming are up to date.
Shipping is available within USA (with utmost care). We are glad to welcome you into our home to pick up your puppy. If that is not possible we can send your baby to any major airport by priority air service. It really is like buying the pup a ticket on the plane. This generally means that the pup only has to be at the airport one hour before the flight leaves, he stays in the office until 30 minutes before take off when he is carried out to the plane in his little pet kennel. He travels in an air conditioned/heated, pressurized part of the plane. You simply meet the plane and pick him up. You have to show identification so that no one else can claim your dog. We make all the arrangements for you. The health record travels with the puppy, as well as a little bag of the food they are used to. Our puppies are raised on dry Small Bites Science Diet Puppy food, and is mixed with canned Science Diet puppy food to wean.
